Pink Haven Update: “Soul Saving” and UUSC

UUC’s Pink Haven group is profoundly grateful to this congregation for its generous response to the November 17 dedicated plate collection. The funds raised will support trans and non-binary adults, youth and their families who seek gender-affirming care and resources, especially those having to relocate to escape hostile and dangerous environments.

The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee has been in the forefront of these efforts. Here is an update on their involvement, of even greater significance now due to the election results:

  • UUSC will allocate $50,000 toward relocation grants. This will help around 100 Travelers.
  • Additional funds will place safe-house coordinators in key destinations.
  • Other funds will go toward providing security at safe houses.

As you can see, your generosity is being amplified on a national scale. The groundwork is already happening. Thanks to you, our area will be ready with an affirming response when needed.

A quote from the video below sums up Pink Haven’s impact:

What this network does is life-saving work. How this network does what it does is soul-saving work.
