UNIVERSITY UNITARIAN CHURCH

Camps and Retreats

Camps and retreats are a magical experience for many children and youth. They offer unique opportunities to build trust and engage deeply with topics related to Unitarian Universalist history, theology, and justice-making. We encourage children, teens, and families to participate in these formative experiences when they are able!

Chalice Camp:

Register for Chalice Camp Here!

Chalice Camp is UUC’s annual summer day-camp for Unitarian Universalist kids. Each week of Camp is full of fun, including music, art, games, worship, and meaningful field trips. Each year, we strengthen children’s Unitarian Universalist identity through these activities, and by supporting the development of friendships that last throughout the year.

In summer 2025, we are offering two full weeks of camp!

  • July 14-18: We Are Artists!
In our first week of Camp, children will use a variety of creative mediums to learn about our Unitarian Universalist Values and explore mystery and wonder. This will include everything from building with Legos to creating self-portraits and sculpting with baker’s clay. This first week of Chalice Camp will include a field trip to one of Seattle’s many excellent art museums.
  • July 28-August 1: Univelarian Fantastickal Forest Guild!
In our second week of Camp, children will be transported to a magical land of Univelaria, where they will be invited to join the Univelarian Fantastickal Forest Guild. At UUFG, children will learn about the ways we rely on one another in community and practice responding to injustice.
UUFG includes components typical for live action role play and children will be invited to develop a fantastickal persona as a witch, wizard, or other magical creature.

Chalice Camp begins each day at 9:00 am and pick up is at 4:00 pm. It is open to incoming Kindergarteners through outgoing 5th graders (i.e, kids who will be in Kindergarten through 6th grade in Fall of 2025).

Registration for the full week of Chalice Camp is $200 per child, per week. Families registering 3 or more children are eligible for a 25% discount. We believe strongly that Chalice Camp should be available to all children who would like to participate. If the cost of Chalice Camp presents a barrier to participation for your family, please contact Aria Curtis about full or partial scholarships.

Registration for Chalice Camp closes on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Youth Counselors for Chalice Camp:

Counselor positions for are open to UUC youth entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2025. This is a fun and collaborative way for youth to build leadership skills, gain work experience, lead worship for the camp and congregation, and deepen their connection to the UUC community. We seek responsible youth who enjoy working with kids, who enjoy being UU, and who are excited to create a vibrant multigenerational community at UUC!

Counselors are expected to assist with all camp activities and to work collaboratively with other counselors and staff to ensure that every camper is included. Counselors invited to participate in Chalice camp must meet all minimum qualifications, attend the training and pledge to fulfill all Chalice Camp counselor responsibilities.

Applications for Youth Counselor positions at Chalice Camp will open in early February 2025.

Camp Blue Boat: June 30-July 5

For registration and other information about Camp Blue Boat, please visit the Unitarian Universalist Association Website

PNW's Unitarian Universalist summer camp immersion experience for youth from rising 6th-grade to 12th-grade graduates, with age-specific housing and programming. Campers, counselors and staff will spend time exploring being in relationship with one's self, others, and the wider world. Understanding relationships is necessary for a healthy spirit and for saving our lifeboat Earth. At camp, youth learn about community, spirituality, justice, equality, and also have a ton of fun!
