Do you believe in the value of Unitarian Universalists helping one another? If you are interested in supporting UU communities in the Pacific Northwest, a unique opportunity is now open. Over 25 years, Cascadia Chalice Lighters* have given over $1,000,000 to UU congregations from Fairbanks, AK, to Twin Falls, ID, from North Vancouver, BC, to Eugene, OR for projects ranging from heating systems to hymnals, from technology upgrades to teaching tools, from worship aids to outreach and social justice initiatives.
We are seeking a (volunteer) Coordinator to carry the Chalice Lighter program forward. Current Coordinators Floyd Roell and Sally Betser are retiring. We encourage people of traditionally marginalized communities or identities to apply. We also encourage couples or friends to apply as having two people share the role has proven successful in the past, but is not a requirement.
The role has two main areas. First is the support of Chalice Lighter congregational Ambassadors. This is a chance to get to know more UUs throughout the Pacific Northwest and up the coast to BC and Alaska. The second is to encourage grant proposals from Congregations needing money. This is done through emails and articles on our website.
Helpful skills include
Platforms we use are Google Workspace and Little Green Light (donor database). Orientation to the role would begin immediately, under current Program Coordinators.
For more information on this role or to suggest a candidate, please contact Rev. Antonia Won at Info@cascadiauu.org .
* Cascadia Chalice Lighters is a congregationally-based program for raising money for specifically selected projects. It is part of the Cascadia Growth Fund for Unitarian Universalism. Cascadia exists to help congregations grow in spirit, strength, and size and is an active, vibrant program with over 450 UUs contributing. UU members commit to making a donation three times per year, each donation going to a project chosen by the Chalice Lighters Advisory Team.
