Christmas Eve Offering to Kenmore Senior Women’s Shelter

The fastest growing group of people being served by Lake City Partners Ending Homelessness (LCP) is unsheltered seniors, including older women. LCP has just opened a new shelter, the Kenmore Senior Women’s Shelter, to help meet this need. Donations made during the offering at our Christmas Eve services will go to support this program and the women being served by it.

Donations may also be made throughout December in cash or via check, text, or electronic transfer to UUC. (Make sure the funds are clearly designated for LCP.)

The specialized Kenmore Senior Women’s Shelter serves retirement-age women. Most have worked their entire lives, often in lower-paying jobs. Their retirement incomes haven’t kept up with cost-of-living increases in the Seattle area, causing them to lose their housing. The women are community-minded, socially-stable, and without chronic mental or physical health issues or substance abuse problems. Many are just $200-300 a month shy of affording market-rate housing. LCP provides a full array of services at the Kenmore Senior Women’s Shelter, and staff work with residents to provide a pathway into shared-housing solutions, along with the skills needed to make shared living work well for these women.

Thank you in advance for your generosity! For more information, stop by the coffee hour Learning Station on Sunday, December 22, or visit lakecitypartners.org/kenmore-senior-womens-shelter/.
