We are looking for volunteers who are ready to be silly, excited to learn alongside children, and passionate about Unitarian Universalism to join us at Chalice Camp this summer.

Chalice Camp is UUC’s annual, summer day camp for Unitarian Universalist kids. It is a week of fun including music, art, games, worship, and meaningful field trips. Each year, we strengthen children’s Unitarian Universalist identity through these activities, and by supporting the development of friendships that last throughout the year.

We need lots of awesome grown-ups in this church to make Camp happen. This is an opportunity to further nurture our multigenerational community, get to know the kids of the church, and just generally have lots of fun.

• July 14-18: We Are Artists! In our first week of Camp, children will use a variety of creative mediums to learn about our Unitarian Universalist Values and explore mystery and wonder. This will include everything from building with Legos to creating self-portraits and sculpting with baker’s clay. This first week of Chalice Camp will include a field trip to one of Seattle’s many excellent art museums.

• July 28-August 1: Univelarian Fantastickal Forest Guild! In our second week of Camp, children will be transported to a magical land of Univelaria, where they will be invited to join the Univelarian Fantastickal Forest Guild. At UUFG, children will learn about the ways we rely on one another in community and practice responding to injustice. UUFG includes components typical for live action role play and children will be invited to develop a fantastickal persona as a witch, wizard, or other magical creature..

Adult volunteers can help with things like chaperoning field trips, supporting our teens counselors in leading activities and craft projects, reading stories, and all sorts of good stuff. The time commitment of these volunteer positions are pretty flexible and we will work with your availability to put together a doable and fun volunteer schedule for you.
