Second Sunday Plate to Wa Na Wari

Sunday, March 9, both services (9:30 and 11:15 a.m.)

UUC’s Second Sunday Plate collections serve as a direct expression of our faith through justice and service work. This month's Second Sunday Plate will go to support the Art Program at Wa Na Wari. This non-profit organization provides an inspirational haven of community, which builds hope through black ownership and celebrating art and culture. Wa Na Wari nurtures connection and creativity, through a variety of art forms and events. This is the third year that University Unitarian Church has offered Wa Na Wari our support.

We look forward to having Elisheba Johnson, Co-Founder and Art Curator of Wa Na Wari join us on Sunday, March 9, for the service and she will be at the Learning Station during the coffee hours. Donations may be made over the next several weeks by check, electronic transfer or text. Be sure to indicate that your donation is for the Special Plate Collection or Second Sunday Plate.

Bonnie Hopper was an Artist in Residence with Wa Na Wari. The exhibit, “Echoes of the Heart” featured Bonnie’s art in our chapel last year. After that, UUC purchased a mosaic (see below) by Bonnie Hopper, which is now on display near our Children’s Suite.
