All are welcome to join us on our second session discussing Martin Luther King, Black Lives Matter, and antiracism in general. Last time we had a strong turnout and a lively dialogue, and in February we’ll be back for more. How successful has BLM been? Does the arc of the moral universe bend toward justice? What can we learn today from MLK? Opinions vary, and we gather to listen and to share.
If you want to prepare, we’ve looked at King’s 1966 Ware lecture, his 1967 speech “The Other America,” the Black Lives Matter website, and the UUA’s official endorsement of Black Lives Matter (2015). Several of us have read King’s last book, Where Do We Go from Here?, published by Beacon Press. Take a look at it in the bookstore if you’re curious. Attendees also bring their own experiences and knowledge to enrich the conversation.
We hope you can join us.
The 4th Principle Dialogue Group promotes the “free & responsible search for truth & meaning,” pursuing the congregational goal of Connected Community. We get to know each other and connect to each other through meaningful, open-hearted dialogue. Drop-ins welcome. Homework not required. See more in UU Connect.
