Rev. Justin Almeida, UUC Minister Affiliated, will lead a four-part discussion and Friday evening Lenten services to explore the 2016 book, Christ for Unitarian Universalists: A New Dialogue with Traditional Christianity, by the Rev. Scotty McLennan.
Registration is requested. This is primarily an in-person event, but Zoom attendance is also welcome—indicate your preference when you register. Attendees are asked to commit to all four dates: March 7, March 21, April 4, and April 18.
The book is available at the UUC Bookstore while supplies last, or through public or commercial booksellers, including in e-book format.
Each meeting will be two hours (6-8 p.m.), expected to follow this general outline:
Rev. Justin Almeida was ordained by UUC as a UU minister in 2021 and named a UUC Minister Affiliated. He is currently serving as a hospital chaplain in palliative care and hospice. He and his partner, Heather, and their son, Toby, are actively involved at UUC. Justin also volunteers at UUC and in the UUA Pacific Western Region with youth ministry, BIPOC fellowship, and around issues of justice and equity.
Rev. William L. McLennan (known as Scotty) is a Unitarian Universalist minister, attorney, professor, author and public speaker. He currently teaches about the moral and ethical aspects of business leadership at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Along with his mentor William Sloane Coffin, McLennan is the real-life inspiration for the "Doonesbury" cartoon character Reverend Scot Sloan in his college roommate Garry Trudeau’s popular comic strip.
