It’s that time of year again! We are looking for folks who enjoy working with children and love UUC to volunteer with our children and youth on Sunday mornings. Volunteering with UUC’s children and youth is a fun way to support the growth and development of our community, and to deepen one’s own spiritual life.
Our Family Ministry programs work to support children and youth in meaning-making, and to develop their spiritual muscles for cooperation, justice-making, and conflict resolution. Through the lens of our Unitarian Universalist values, we explore our sense of wonder and awe about the world and ask big questions about who we are and what is important to us. And, we get to play with Legos!
We rely on adults in the congregation to give their time and talents to these programs, to support our growing ministry to families and ensure it continues to be available into the future.
Adults who volunteer in these programs get to spend time with a group of curious, silly, and often joyful kids. By leading alongside elders, parents, young adults, and teens, volunteers get to know our church community more deeply and develop friendships that they might not otherwise find. And, by working with children and youth to understand big topics like pluralism, repair, and trust, adults often find that their personal understanding and spiritual expression of these topics is enriched.
I encourage you to fill out our Volunteer Interest Form to tell us about the age group you’d like to work with and your availability throughout the year. Included in this form is some more information about the programs we plan to offer for each age-group this year.
