Tent City 4 Update

Thank you for your generosity. More donations welcomed.

Much appreciation to so many who helped Tent City 4 (TC4) get their footing over the last few weeks.

  • Some of you donated tents, tarps, sleeping pads, blankets, flashlights and more.
  • Others baked breakfast treats that were delivered when the TC4 folks arrived at their new home, in the Lake City neighborhood.
  • Seven from UUC lifted, pounded and hauled during the big move-in on Saturday, May 18. Tent City folks led the effort, but the extra UUC hands made the big day a wee bit lighter for them.
  • To top it off, several from UUC rounded up over 50 wood pallets. If you've helped with one of the moves, or you took a close-up look while TC3 was hosted at UUC, then you'll know that all the tents are up on foundations starting with wood pallets. This keeps the tents drier during the rain, warmer in the winter, and even a bit cooler than right on the pavement in the heat of summer. A huge thank you to Don Haggerty who drove around to pick-up and transport all the pallets, in his van, to TC4 over the past week.

Tent City 4 is settling in at their new location at the Seattle Mennonite Church. With the need so great in our city, the screening and intake process began on the first day. Tent City 4 will be located in there until May 16, 2025.

Additional Donations Still Needed

You can continue to drop off donations directly at the Tent City 4 camp at 3212 NE 125th Street (about 3 miles north of UUC and 1 block west of 35th Avenue NE).

  • Know where to get some pallets? TC4 needs still more pallets to accommodate more tents, as they continue to screen and welcome more campers.
  • Donate camp supplies — Tents, tarps, sleeping pads, blankets, flashlights and AAA-batteries, can be dropped off directly at camp any time.
  • Donate kitchen supplies — Coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, peanut butter, and small canned and packaged items, like tuna or microwavable lunch cups, can be delivered to the camp at any time.
  • Bake & deliver snacks Cookies, muffins, bars, bread or your household's favorite treats.

Dropping off donations or visiting TC4 -- The camp is set-up on the east side of the Seattle Mennonite Church. You can park in the church's lot, behind the building on the east side of the large parking lot, with parking spots marked SMC. Or, for a quick drop-off, you'll see a short drive at the TC4 camp office tent, immediately east of the church driveway.

If you have questions, feel free to contact Pam. Or you can contact the camp directly with questions at TC4@sharewheel.org.
