Congratulations to our Coming of Age teens for their joyful and vibrant service last Sunday, and for sharing their statements of faith with the congregation! We are so impressed by and proud of what you did this year.
We encourage you to take a listen to the Coming of Age Service Playlist, which the teens had hoped to find a way to share with you during their service. It's filled with music important to their teens and to their coming of age.
For more information about Coming of Age, please contact Director of Family Ministry, Aria Curtis.
Coming of Age is a rite of passage experience for teens in 9th and 10th grade, where participants explore their personal and spiritual beliefs. At the beginning of the year, Coming of Age teens are paired with an adult mentor from the congregation, who offers a sense of guidance and perspective. Together, mentors and mentees explore questions about god, identity, life after death, good and evil, justice-making, and personal purpose. The year culminates in a weekend retreat, including a solo vigil in the woods, and the development of a personal faith statement.
