Holiday Giving to Benefit Teen Feed

Drop off your donations December 11–19

UUC has partnered with Teen Feed for twenty years. Eighteen times each year, fifteen or so volunteers from UUC's Meal Team gather to prepare and serve a meal to teens who are unhoused in the University District. These meals are a conduit for the Teen Feed staff members to do their stuff—inviting conversation with teens who have found it difficult to trust adults in their lives.

Teen Feed offers a critical safety net for homeless teens in our community through advocacy, case management, and street outreach. Teen Feed is focused on developing relationships that can prevent youth isolation and regression into permanent homelessness.

Choose one of these ways to help teens in need

  • Drop off your donated items on Sunday, December 15, before or after services. From Wednesday, December 11 through Thursday, December 19, you are also welcome to drop off donations between 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and when you attend gatherings at the church. Purchase some of the basic items most needed during the winter months and drop off your donations in the lower level atrium.
  • Choose items from Teen Feed’s Amazon wish list and have your items sent directly to Teen Feed. Click here to learn more about that option. You can shop and then choose “Teen Feed’s Gift Registry Address” at checkout. The items will be delivered directly to Teen Feed.
  • Make a financial contribution to UUC for Holiday Giving, and Teen Feed will shop for the most needed items.
  • Submit a check payable to UUC by Thursday, December 19, and note “Teen Feed Holiday Giving” on the memo line. Drop your check by the church office, or drop it in the collection plate on Sunday, December 15.
  • Or donate online through UUC Connect. Log in to UUC Connect, choose Give Online, enter the amount, select the “Special Plate Collection” fund, and enter “Teen Feed Holiday Giving” on the memo line.

The following items are most requested by the teens this year. Like everyone else, the teens appreciate new items. So please consider purchasing any of the following:

  • Men’s coats/jackets (Large-2XL)
  • Hand warmers
  • Wool socks
  • Adult-sized gloves (light-weight and fingerless are both popular)
  • Adult-sized wool and Polartec beanies
  • Rain jackets (Medium-XL)
  • Hanes 3-pack boxer briefs (M, L, XL)
  • Plain hooded sweatshirts (XL & XXL) No logos or slogans. And the teens prefer dark colors.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Pam.
