Fall Donation Drive

Sunday, October 27, through Friday, November 8, UUC downstairs lobby

Cold, dark, rainy weather has arrived, bringing added suffering for those living homeless in our community. You are invited to participate in a donation drive October 27 through November 8. UUC’s Homelessness Ministry Team will collect items to help folks keep healthy and warm during the fall and winter. Donations will be distributed to those living in Tent City 4 and served by God’s L’il Acre Day Center, a program of Lake City Partners Ending Homelessness.

The following items are especially needed:

  • Tarps
  • Sleeping bags, blankets, cots, sleeping mats
  • Flash lights and batteries
  • Sweatpants and sweatshirts for men and women – Sizes M, L, XL
  • Jackets, new or gently used – Sizes M, L, XL
  • Casual shoes or boots, new or gently used – any adult size
  • Belts
  • Hygiene supplies – deodorant, nail clippers, feminine supplies, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouth wash, reading glasses, shampoo, hand soap, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, tissues, toilet paper.

Donations may be dropped in the tent located in the downstairs lobby on Sundays from 9:15 a.m.–1 p.m., weekdays 9 a.m.–4 p.m., or when you arrive at church to take part in a scheduled event.  For more information, stop by the Learning Station in Nathan Johnson Hall after services on Sundays, October 27 and November 3, or contact Judy Oerkvitz. Thank you for your concern for those in need.
