Civil Rights Documentaries and Discussions

Tuesday, July 9, and Thursday, July 25

In September, a delegation of UUC members will travel with Common Power to Selma, Atlanta, Birmingham and Montgomery to immerse in the history of the Voting Rights march and the living history of the Black Freedom struggle. In anticipation, there will be several events this summer to study and prepare, which the whole congregation is invited to attend. Whether you are traveling to Selma in September or not, join for popcorn and conversation as we watch these films:

Tuesday, July 9, 6:30–8:30 p.m. in Nathan Johnson Hall

Watch and discuss Mighty Times: The Children’s March documentary, an Academy Award-winning short film about young people in the 1963 Birmingham campaign. Open to the whole congregation.

Thursday, July 25, 6:30–9:00 p.m. in the Knatvold room

Watch and discuss The Freedom Riders by PBS’s American Experience. Open to the whole congregation.
