Celebrations

This past Sunday, June 4, our church community celebrated two important milestones in the life of the congregation: Bridging Seniors and Child Dedications. These ceremonies honor the growth and development of the children in our community.

It was a joy and honor to dedicate the following children in our church community:

  • Alice Gould
  • Ewan Mehravari-Gorton
  • Felix Esbenshade
  • Ian Honker
  • Koa Parsons-Ogren
  • Robin Weaver
  • Sage Parsons-Ogren

In welcoming these children into our church community, the congregation made the following commitment:

We, the members of University Unitarian Church, welcome these children to our church family.  We pledge our affection, interest and concern for their growth in our fellowship.  As members, one with another, we affirm our desire to provide a church school of quality, to encourage the religious quest of all ages, and to engender a respect for the dignity of human life.  May our precept enable us to share with these parents a part of their children’s search for widening knowledge, genuine understanding, and unfolding love.

We were also able to celebrate the Bridging of Rose Prevo and Claire Renschler.

Rose Prevo: Rose Prevo was part of UUC's Teen Feed team from age 11 to 17. She is graduating from Nova High School and is going on to Bellevue College to study elementary teaching.

Claire Renschler: Claire is soon to close the chapter on her high school experience at University Prep. A particularly formative experience was a semester away with The Traveling School, where she engaged in place-based learning alongside 14 students and teachers as they traveled through the varied communities and geographies of Montana, Utah, Colorado and Arizona. Claire has also enjoyed collaboration and movement as a dancer at All That Dance since age six. Claire participated in the This is Me project, which encouraged youth to keep a video journal of their reflections and experiences during the pandemic. This led to opportunities to explore filmmaking further, and now Claire looks forward to attending the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. Claire expresses appreciation for the supportive and loving communities, including UUC, which have shaped who she is today.

We’d also like to wish a warm “congratulations!” to Claire, Rose, and also to all of the teens who are graduating from youthhood to young adulthood this year who did not participate in this year’s Bridging ceremony. May these coming years be filled with joy, adventure, and lots of laughter.
