Thank you for considering University Unitarian Church as the site for your wedding. The award-winning mid-century architecture of Paul Hayden Kirk (fully renovated in 2019) contributes to the memorable quality of any event and provides a welcoming space for you to share your special occasion with friends and family.
UUC is an ideal location for weddings and offers a flexible space for receptions as well. The sanctuary at UUC seats up to 300 guests but is entirely suitable for smaller gatherings. The social hall can seat 80 guests at tables, or it can be arranged for a more casual standing reception for up to 120 guests. Both the chapel and social hall have audio systems and microphones for presentations.
If you are using the services of a UUC or community minister, they will help you plan the content of the wedding ceremony. Unitarian Universalist ceremonies allow for a good deal of flexibility. Discuss your preferences with the minister so that the service is as meaningful as possible. Photography and video at the ceremony should be coordinated with the officiating minister.
You are responsible for appointing ushers for the ceremony. If recorded music will be played on church equipment, you will need to provide an MP3 player and appoint an individual to control the player during the ceremony. You are responsible for obtaining and delivering any floral arrangements for the chapel or social hall. Please contact the church office for recommendations. You must supply all decorations, including any candles and candle holders or stands.
If you are planning a reception in the social hall to follow your ceremony at UUC, you will need to arrange for catering and a liquor permit, if needed. The kitchen is available to you for serving prepared food at your reception, with refrigerator and freezer, warming oven, an ice machine, and coffee maker. You must provide your own serving pieces, glassware, dishes, and utensils.
Arrangements to meet caterers or vendors for setup or drop-off of food or equipment must be supported by you or a member of your party and coordinated with the office manager.
