On February 19 we begin the Great Decisions 2025 series, which focuses on eight topics in foreign affairs that the Foreign Policy Association considers most important at this time. Jane Sisk will guide the discussion on the first overview topic, "America at a Global Crossroads." Each session will feature a video on the topic with Jeffrey Morton. Foreign affairs generally and these topics specifically have taken on added importance with the advent of a new federal administration and the policy changes underway.
Volunteers facilitators have signed up for 6 of the 8 sessions. We welcome volunteers for the two remaining ones, "U.S.-China Relations" and "AI and American National Security," both critical issues that the nation is confronting.
Here is the schedule:
2/19 American Foreign Policy at a Crossroads
3/5 U.S. Changing Leadership in the World Economy
3/19 U.S.-China Relations
4/2 India: Between China, the West, and the Global South
4/16 International Cooperation on Climate Change
5/7 The Future of NATO and European Security
5/21 AI and American National Security
6/4 American Policy in the Middle East
Booklets with essays by experts on each topic are available from the Foreign Policy Association at this FPA link.
All are welcome to join the Wednesday Forum, which meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in the Knatvold room. If you are not already on the Forum list and would like to be, to receive the Zoom link and regular notices, please contact the church office at office@uuchurch.org or (206) 525-8400.
