Wednesday Forum: International Cooperation on Climate Change

Wednesday, April 16, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Knatvold and via Zoom

On April 16, Ken Yeats will lead our discussion of international cooperation to address climate change. The 2015 Paris Agreement established a UN-sponsored framework for negotiations on climate change and global warming. In subsequent Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings, experts and political leaders have come together seeking common cause for this growing global crisis. China (31%) and the United States (14%) have been the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. President Trump recently gave notice of the United States’ intention to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. Materials from the Foreign Policy Association provide the historical context and analyze future options for the United States and other countries to address this crisis.
