All are welcome to drop in and join us as we discuss one of life’s big questions: What is truth? Is there a truth? Is there one truth or are there many truths? Is truth revealed? How useful are ancient sources of truth? Is beauty truth? How does objectivity relate to truth?
A popular UU principle is the free and responsible search for truth and meaning. How do we search for truth, and what do we do when we find it? Why did UU leaders propose eliminating the “free responsible search for truth and meaning” from the UUA bylaws and how does this wording appear in the new version of Article II?
You already know everything you need to know to participate in this discussion. If you’d like to read what one UU wrote for the UU World magazine, here’s a link to Jeffrey Lockwood’s 2017 article “Relativism is the Trump Card”.
We hope you join can join us.
Upcoming topic for April 24: Does the arc of the moral universe really bend toward justice?
The 4th Principle Dialogue Group promotes the “free & responsible search for truth & meaning,” pursuing the congregational goal of Connected Community. We get to know each other and connect to each other through meaningful, open-hearted dialogue. Drop-ins welcome. Homework not required. See more in UU Connect.
