You are invited to join members of UUC and the wider community on March 30 for a screening and discussion of Borderland | The Line Within. Light refreshments will be served.
About the film: The United States border is not just a geographic location. A war on immigrants is being waged every day in our country, and not just along the southern border—we have become a Borderland, the border is everywhere and within every immigrant. A massive apparatus has been built to capture, detain and deport millions. In resistance to these forces, immigrants are building a rights movement envisioning a future rooted in human connection and the sanctity of life.
The protagonists of the film, all immigrants themselves, express these values while exposing the system that provides the scaffolding for the war on immigrants. Join us for these interwoven stories of immigrant leaders who are dedicated to building leadership among immigrant women, protecting indigenous lands, and using data science in their academic work as human rights researchers.
