In the Larger Community: Security for Women’s March

March will be on Saturday, January 18; training ahead of time

We are seeking scores, maybe hundreds, of volunteers to help out with security at the Seattle Women's March on January 18, 2025. Think of "Security" as "Peace Makers" or "De-Escalators" or "Helpers". This critical role will require a team of folks from all backgrounds, genders, races, sizes, ages—we need to keep our people, participants in the March, safe, and embraced in a secure and fun and loving experience.

It is not important that those volunteering for this role have any prior experience. The important quality is a loving heart, a commitment to non-violence, and a desire to help fundamentally. You will need to arrive 90 minutes before the start of the event (time is not fully solidified yet) and will need to stay for the entire event. Probably we are talking about seven-ish hours. Could be a little longer as specifics are yet to be determined. You will also need to come to a single training session in the couple of weeks prior to the event, which will run two and half hours. This is NOT a zoom training, you will have to come in person. There will be two or three different offerings from which you will need to sign up for a single session. Exact times and locations are not yet finalized.

You do not need to be in top physical shape, but will need to be on your feet for most of the day, and walking for a lot of it. The March itself is likely to be 2.5–3 miles; you may find that you will walk 5 miles as part of your service.

It is a wonderful experience. Please consider joining us!

To sign up, please check off the "Security" box at the following Volunteer form:  https://forms.gle/mVZAZNnnKs1zy9Rq6. In the comments/questions please mention the name of your organization/church so we know where everyone is from.
