Come spend an evening listening to wisdom and stories with Indigenous activists Sul ka dub Phreddie Lane, of the Lummi Nation, Esther Yazzie-Lewis of the Navajo Nation, and Lithia Booi, of South Africa.
Subjects will include protecting Mother Earth; the Gathering of the Eagles (Esqalph etse Kwelengsen), the annual intergenerational canoe journey, May 19-27th, which follows the ancestral highways of the Coast Salish peoples through the San Juan Islands (organized by Phreddie Lane) and; in honor of Pride month, Phreddie will speak to the experience of being two-spirited.
The event begins with a potluck at 5:00 p.m. The presentation, with a question and answer period to follow, will start around 6:30. Join us when you can. You are encouraged to bring food, but, most importantly, we want you to come meet our guests and share this special evening with us.
This event is for all ages and is open to the public. Free attendance for all. Donations will be greatly appreciated. You can also donate directly to Gathering of the Eagles through Friends of the San Juans
