Many will recall that, during the June 2024 Annual Congregational Meeting, the Board of Trustees agreed to follow UUA guidance regarding pursuit of Emeritus status for Rev. Jon M. Luopa. Here is our update.

Per UUA guidelines, the Board will be undertaking some listening sessions as to recommending Emeritus status. This allows the full congregation to have an opportunity to comment and/or listen to others’ comments. This input will help shape development of an overview summary laying out reasons for or against Emeritus status by a current Board member. We can provide the congregation that summary in advance of the Annual Congregational Meeting in June 2025 when the motion to approve will be put forward. Noting the very considerable inclination to support this motion expressed in June 2024, we anticipate similar sentiments in June 2025. UUA suggests waiting until end of the second church year of the Interim Minister’s stay to put this motion to a vote, but that does not seem necessary to us at this time.
