What is the church’s Climate Action Team (CAT) up to? The 4th Principle Dialogue Group is hosting members of the CAT to talk to us about their team and its connection to the rest of the congregation. Join us and talk about their important work. For this session, the Dialogue Group is trying something new, using dialogue to connect with another team at church. Drop-ins welcome.
Here is the CAT’s description: “UUC’s Climate Action Team began in the spring of 2014. In the spirit of the seventh principle of Unitarian Universalism—respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part—the Climate Action Team’s mission is to seek reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. In the spirit of the second UUC principle—justice, equity and compassion in human relations—the team will advocate policies to begin to redress injustices already set in motion by past and present emissions.”
Maybe we’ll talk about solar panels, heat pumps, driving (or not driving) to church, state legislation, salmon, and the global climate movement. Bring your questions!
Our Next Topic
March 14 & 28: The Lost Histories of Liberalism by Helena Rosenblatt. It’s in the church bookstore, and it’s worth a read even if you don’t attend our dialogue. Nineteenth-century Unitarianism is part of the story.
The 4th Principle Dialogue Group promotes the “free and responsible search for truth and meaning,” pursuing the congregational goal of Connected Community. We get to know each other and connect to each other through meaningful, open-hearted dialogue. Drop-ins welcome. Homework not required. See more in UU Connect.
