Please fill out this form to have your child dedicated during the Annual Flower Communion Service on Sunday, June 2.
On Sunday, June 2, as part of our Annual Flower Communion Service, UUC’s Ministers and Director of Family Ministry will lead a Child Dedication Ceremony for new children in the church community.
The Child Dedication Ceremony is a meaningful ritual, in which parents dedicate themselves to their children, vowing to help their children become "fearless, impartial, and reverent seekers after truth, beauty and goodness." In turn, the congregation welcomes children into our church community, covenanting to share with parents "part of [each child’s] search for widening knowledge, genuine understanding, and unfolding love." Children receive a blessing from the minister, as well as a budding rose, a symbol “of the potential unfolding of a beautiful life.”
Traditionally this ceremony is done with little ones, but we welcome children up to age 18 to be dedicated. Membership at UUC is not a requirement for participation in this ceremony; we welcome any child from the community to be dedicated. Following this upcoming ceremony, the next Child Dedication Ceremony will take place in December, 2024.
To have your child(ren) dedicated in this spring’s ceremony, please fill out this short form by Sunday, May 26.
For more information about the Child Dedication Ceremony or the Family Holiday Service please contact Director of Family Ministry, Aria Curtis.
