Sack Lunch Volunteers

We’re looking for a few new volunteers, age 10 to adult, to help prepare two sets of sack lunches for distribution to people living homeless. On the first Monday of the month, lunches are distributed to folks using God’s L’il Acre Day Center in Lake City; on the third Saturday, lunches are for folks at The Oaks Shelter in Shoreline. Both programs are operated by our long-time partner organization Lake City Partners Ending Homelessness (LCP).

Some volunteers sign up to purchase, donate, and deliver food used to prepare lunches (bread, cheese, turkey, fruit, etc.) Others arrive at the UUC kitchen at 10 a.m. help to make sandwiches and fill the lunch bags. Notices are sent out twice per month for people to sign up, so scheduling is quite flexible.

If you’d like join in this ongoing community service project, please contact Judy Oerkvitz, Sallie Dacey, or Cynthia Salzman. Thanks in advance for your concern for those living homeless in our community.
