Wednesday Forum: U.S.-China Trade Rivalry

Wednesday, March 20, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Knatvold and via Zoom

The next topic in the Foreign Policy Association's Great Decisions 2024 program is the U.S-China Trade Rivalry, with an emphasis on U.S. restrictions on technology transfer. Is China a national security threat or business opportunity, or both? Opinions as to what U.S. policy is appropriate depend on one's perspective on this question. In addition to the chapter in the Great Decisions 2024 booklet, background materials include a Great Decisions video with Jeffrey Morton, Florida Atlantic University, to frame our discussion. As this information indicates, U.S. federal debt and military spending, the cause of U.S. loss of manufacturing jobs, and the future of great-power countries relate to the central issue of U.S.-China trade and may figure into our discussion.

Booklets on Great Decisions 2024 topics are available for $35 from the Foreign Policy Association at https://www.fpa.org/great_decisions/?act=gd_materials. Subsequent 2024 topics are NATO's future, understanding Indonesia, High Seas Treaty, and pandemic preparedness.

All are welcome to join the Wednesday Forum, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in person in the Knatvold Room or via Zoom, on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. If you are not already on the Forum list and would like to be, to receive the Zoom link and regular notices, please contact the UUC office at office@uuchurch.org or (206) 525-8400.
