Dialogue Group: Lost Histories of Liberalism

Thursday, March 28, 7:00–8:45 p.m. in the King Room

Join the 4th Principle Dialogue Group for another lively discussion of this informative book. In our first session, we talked about education, neoliberalism, the meaning of liberalism, and whether to use the label “liberal.” UUC describes itself as a “liberal church,” but what does that mean today? The Lost Histories of Liberalism by Helena Rosenblatt is a surprising history of competing trends within liberalism, and Unitarianism appears several times in this account.

You can read this short, paywall-free review if you want to know more. The book is available at the UUC Bookstore, open after each Sunday service, as well as through libraries and commercial sellers. Feel free to join us even if you haven’t read the book.

The 4th Principle Dialogue Group promotes the “free & responsible search for truth & meaning,” pursuing the congregational goal of Connected Community. We get to know each other and connect to each other through meaningful, open-hearted dialogue. Drop-ins welcome. Homework not required. See more in UU Connect.
